'I feel I am no longer so much of an observer of nature but immersed in it, enmeshed in it and overwhelmed by it'. - Melanie Miller

Long & Ryle are delighted to present ‘New; Unknown’ by Melanie Miller. The works of this exhibition have been made since Miller’s move from South-West London to Cornwall during the 2021 lockdown. Miller makes paintings in oil on traditional gesso ground, which follow a classic tradition of still life and are inspired by her immediate environment. She also makes assemblage installations, often inside small boxes. Using collaged elements with found and cast objects from the natural world, viewers can illuminate them from above with their mobile phones, allowing unique views of mysterious worlds.
