Continuing her Family Album series Lottie Cole has taken the classic skiing posed photo as her latest subject. Inspired by the time before selfies, she has tried to capture the spirit and memory of skiing trips, past and future. It seems hard to remember the time when taking a single photograph was a costly and precious thing and that a roll of film with 24 or 36 images could take a year or to use up and even longer to develop. These small paintings attempt to capture the very particular stances we all used to strike when a camera, not a phone, was pointed in our direction.
